Get Up and Co offer Youth Work Levels 2 & 3 in the Award, Certificate and Diploma. All Qualifications are JNC recognised and approved by the National Youth Agency (NYA) and the NOCN.

Why choose JNC recognised Qualifications or Apprenticeships?

  • You will be professionally recognised within your field
  • A large number of employers only employ JNC qualified Youth Workers
  • You will have the industry standard learning and knowledge to support young people through adolescence and to achieve their aspirations.

Training can be online, in person or a combination of the two depending on your training requirements.

Each cohort will have a minimum of eight learners and a maximum of ten. You can enrol as an individual and learn alongside other learners in the same position, or we can deliver closed group training to companies.

The first four units for the Award, Certificate and Diploma are the same. If you choose to complete the Certificate you will need to choose if you want to study at Level 2 or 3*. The Diploma is taught at Level 3 and is designed for those who are looking to specialise in a specific area or would like to continue study at University.

*Level 2 is recommended for Youth Workers who are assistant youth workers at a youth project, the Level 3 is recommended for Youth Workers who are leading in a youth work setting.

The Award

Learners will cover four core youth work modules: Safeguarding, The Theory of Youth Work, Understanding Adolescence and Engaging and Communicating. These are designed to provide learners with the basic youth work skills and knowledge to work with young people and keep them safe.

The Certificate

Learners will cover nine modules: the four from the award and an additional five. Work-Based Practice in Youth Work, Working with Challenging Behaviour, Group Work, Anti-discriminatory practice and Reflective Practice.

The certificate will give learners a solid grounding in all areas of Youth Work  including the skills, theory and guided practical experience to enhance delivery.

 The Diploma

Learners will be expected to complete all nine modules as in the Certificate and three additional modules of their choosing. Learners have the opportunity to learn more about a specific area. If they are in a specialised role this will enable them to hone their skills and gain further knowledge and expertise.

Youth Work Apprenticeships

Get Up and Co are a Youth Work Apprenticeship Training provider.  If you are a business that employs Youth Work Apprentices you can enrol them with Get Up and Co to complete their training and receive mentoring from industry professionals.

Qualifications offered through the apprenticeship route are:

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship in Youth Work  equivalent to the Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice
  • Advanced Apprenticeship in Youth Work Practice equivalent to the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice
Apprentices will need to provide evidence of their achievement of transferable skills in English, Mathematics and ICT at Level 2 to be awarded the Apprenticeship. If a learner does not have a Level 2 in English, Maths and ICT Get Up and Co will enrol them onto a course or courses with the NOCN where they will be able to achieve these qualifications alongside their Youth Work Apprenticeship.

The Qualifications will take roughly 18 months to complete and will be assessed by the NOCN on completion of the course.
"I attended Jenna’s course, Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles. Because of lockdown the course was taken remotely, but it did not affect the quality of the training. Jenna put everyone at ease and gave us all all the support and advice we needed to successfully complete the course. If I had a query I would email Jenna who responded quickly with all the information and reassurance I needed. This training has helped me in my work and Jenna has inspired me to take my training further."
